Based on the award winning gaming engines, featuring cutting edge rendering techniques and the gaming industry’s most powerful content creation pipeline, TakePoint is a simulation training product that represents the highest fidelity in mission rehearsal and situational awareness training.

ACI TakePoint™

First Person Simulation Platform

TakePoint offers visually superior environments, creating a dynamic immersive world populated by military and civilian vehicles, opposition forces, non-combatants and blue force elements. TakePoint is a first-person, game-based simulation designed for military training but that can be adapted for law enforcement, first responders and any specialized small unit training.

More than just a single product — it is a platform that incorporates:

  • Editing tools for scenario, terrain and 3D-models
  • A toolkit for rapid database generation from multiple ISR elements including drone feeds, overhead imagery, and industry 3D common databases
  • Interactive Briefing and After-action review tools
  • A HLA/DIS gateway
  • User interface ranging from laptop to natural motion, full body and weapon tracking
  • Full support of battlefield communication systems
  • A library of realistic characters, environments, weapons, vehicles, equipment, animations, sounds and scenarios

TakePoint’s technology provides users with simple, flexible and highly effective simulation tools to build, conduct, and review dynamic scenarios that simulate real world conditions. With TakePoint, trainers can immerse their trainees in a range of mounted and dismounted situations providing a more immersive, realistic experience including:

  • Close Quarters Battle (CQB) urban
  • warfare scenarios
  • Entry and Traffic Control Points
  • Perimeter security operations
  • UNSTAB VCG Training
  • MEDEVAC operations
  • Cordon & search
  • Aircraft & vehicle recovery operations

Scenario and Content Creation with the TakePoint Development Suite

TakePoint provides a powerful content creation pipeline through its powerful editor tool. TakePoint expands this by adding a military context to gaming engines, allowing developers or trained end users to quickly build environments and script scenarios. The editor uses a visual scripting interface without the need to write any code or script. Using ACI’s Engine Agnostic Interface, this allows rendering of a range of interactive scenarios from IED detonations, to ambushes to sniper fire.

End User Friendly

The EAI provides a standardized set of user interfaces (U.I.) identical to all games and engines to which it is connected. As a result, TakePoint benefits from a friendly yet powerful interface for the users in the simulation, the operators running the exercise and the scenario creators. This enables the trainer to concentrate on the training objectives, meaning:

  • Straightforward interface that allows users to learn the system in just two days
  • Ability for trainers to build accurate real world scenarios, characters, buildings, vehicles and configure Artificial Intelligence interaction with blue force, OPFOR and civilians

Mission Rehearsal

Of all the game engines in the marketplace, the TakePoint offers the most realistic urban and indoor environments today. TakePoint’s graphics allow an extraordinary level of detail, including complex architecture, power lines, road quality, and perimeter obstacles such as barbed wire, fences and the myriad of details found in the tactical environment. TakePoint integrates intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data to enable real world mission rehearsal in a deployed environment. The ability to re-create the interior of targeted buildings, based on available intelligence, allows operators to train on the actual objectives they will encounter on combat missions. Scenario and content creation are placed in the hands of the end user to be modified on the ground, at any location across the globe.

Real Time Virtual Camera

TakePoint features an intelligent bird’s eye camera that reports relevant mission information and visualizes the action to the operator while allowing manipulation of the simulated environment, entities and events in real time. Some of the many V-Cam features include:

  • Numerous manual and automated camera control, viewpoints and a 2D map.
  • Mission recording and events tagging for AAR purpose
  • Objects inserted from the entire library of vehicle, characters, and equipment
  • A full inventory system including weapons, ammunitions and hand held equipment
  • Saving and restoring mission at any point
  • Control over trainees state, position, input and revival
  • Avatar face mapping technology for cultural interaction
  • Call for Fire and IED capabilities
  • Complex Special Effects visualizing snail trails, field of view and weapon safety

Interoperability

With the use of the Generic Network Extension, TakePoint is able to take advantage of a range of standard network protocols such as HLA and DIS. End-user developers are also able to create plugins for the Generic Network Extension allowing for more support of other network protocols.

After Action Review (AAR)

TakePoint AAR is a fully interactive replay of the Virtual Camera with special effects, statistical analysis and charts that provides the most powerful AAR framework available for evaluating small team TTP and convoy operation missions available anywhere in the industry. This translates into the most effective teaching instrument for trainees.

Artificial Intelligence

The Engine Agnostic Interface leverages ‘Xaitment,’ a state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence solution. As a result, TakePoint takes full advantage of superior AI capabilities and scenarios that can be re-used with any EAI integrated game engine.

  • All artificial intelligence can be used in full spectrum scenarios simultaneously
  • End-users are empowered to visually define behaviors of blue force, opposing force, and civilian entities
  • Capability exists to rapidly create behaviors needed for specific scenarios created by operators and trainers
